The Cipher Golden Age
Cryptography, the art of writing and cracking codes, has been essential for securing communications for centuries. From ancient Egypt’s simple ciphers to the sophisticated systems of World War II, each era has brought its own breakthroughs and challenges. The golden age of ciphers, spanning the early to mid-20th century, saw incredible innovations that changed the game. Highlights include cracking the Enigma code and using cryptography strategically in military and diplomatic communications.
Join us on 12 July 2024 for an engaging session with Dr. Loubna Ali, Lecturer and Associate Professor in Networking and Information Technology, as she explores iconic ciphers, such as Playfair algorithm and Route algorithm, from the cipher golden age and their impact on cryptography. Explore how these methods empowered cryptographers to encode and decode messages with exceptional accuracy and confidentiality.
This workshop will serve as a learning opportunity for students looking to boost their careers in cybersecurity, IT, and related fields.
